In approximately 1922, at age 46, Edwin Eggert gave up his
job as a Superintendent for the telephone company in Chicago and bought the
Point Henry Resort on Spider Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin. They renamed it “Eggert’s Resort”. Ed and his wife, Billie, lived on, and ran,
the resort for many years
Overlooking the lake
The resort was open in the Summer and in the Fall for Hunting Season.
Beaver Dam
This cabin is called Sky Parlor. I was at the resort once and we left the lodge at 1:00 AM, when it closed. As we went outside we saw the most beautiful display of the Northern Lights. We stayed outside watching until about 4:00 AM.
This island has a house on it.
This picture was taken to
commemorate the resort opening. Billie

The gangs all here.
The cabins were cleaned
daily. Large meals were also served
daily in the lodge house. The cabins did
not have kitchens.

I think they are using horses to pull a car out of the mud.

The Eggerts sold the resort
to the Hahns, who renamed it. The Hahns
updated the cabins to include kitchens, toilets and showers. The lodge became a bar and sandwich shop, as
opposed to full service daily inclusive meals.
This map shows the lay out of the cabins, which remained the same.
I took the below picture in 1987. I wanted to see the place my grandmother told me so much about. I was very fortunate it was still there and in operation. It is not there anymore.
