In approximately
1923, at age 47, Edwin Eggert gave up his job as a Superintendent for the
telephone company in Chicago and bought an existing resort on Spider Lake near
Hayward, Wisconsin.
His wife, Billie, made
this album, writing like a brochure, showing the best of their resort. The words you are reading are the words she wrote.

Note: Not Anymore
Our cabins are
comfortable. I want to tell you, I
stayed in those cabins in 1987 and 1991 and believe they were just about
exactly the same as they had been in 1923, except kitchens, toilets and showers
had been added to them over time, but the beds, chairs and dressers looked like
they may have been the same.
Screened porches. These screened porches were later converted
to kitchens.
Heator stoves. That’s Ed with one of their dogs.
Good beds
Plenty of shade, because
there was no air conditioning in 1923, but you were in Wisconsin, don’t need it
often.
Kindly pets. Billie Eggert was childless.
