Hillmanns 46 - Manhattan Beach, Raymond and the Lembecks of Smallwood

THE HILLMANNS OF BROOKLYN

CHAPTER 46

1932

Manhattan Beach and Smallwood

Its the Summer of 1932.  Marian is a 22 year old, fifth grade teacher.  The Summer Olympics opened in Los Angeles as Marian enjoyed summer in the city.

Marian's regularly present friend, Raymond.

They are at Manhattan Beach

Cue music "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing"

Sometime in the Summer of 1932 we have the appearance of the elusive Al Hearn

Marian also journeyed to spend time with the Lembecks of Smallwood

Marian refers to this woman as "Auntie" Lembeck. I have no knowledge of Marian having an aunt with the last name Lembeck. I think it is more likely this was a close friend's parent or a friend of her parents.  When I grew up I was taught to call my parents and grandparents friends using the term "Aunt" or "Uncle" followed by their first name, as opposed to their last.

Hillmanns albums come out on Tuesdays and next week is really something because we're off to Cuba!!!
